Welcome to Our Web Site!Powder Creek Simmentals is located near Molena, Georgia. The operation was begun in 1974 with the purchase of a half-blood Simmental bull from the Rollins Beef Research Center at Berry College in Rome, Georgia, to cross on a herd of Polled Hereford cattle. Through the years, the herd has evolved to a black, purebred Simmental herd of around 70 cows.
Powder Creek Simmentals is owned and operated by the Hilley Family, consisting of daughter Nicole, sons Ryan and Jimmy and husband and wife team, Rodney and Gail. Our program began with a commitment to producing low birth, strong maternal, cost efficient performance cattle that are easy fleshing and require minimum maintenance while working in a forage based environment. Our appreciation for this type of cattle evolved over time and the years of working with large numbers of cattle of several breeds gave us the practical insight into the type of cattle needed to meet our goals. As you visit our site, please keep in mind that we are very open to any questions about our program that you may have, so please give us a call at 770-567-3909 to discuss any of the cattle that we currently have for sale or to talk about our breeding philosophy. ![]() Pictured at left is Lynn Pelton, President of the Beef Improvement Federation shown presenting the plaque to Gail and Rodney Hilley for their nomination as the 2006 Beef Improvement Federation Seedstock Producers Of The Year. Powder Creek Simmentals was very proud to have been the recipient of the Purebred Breeder of the Year by the Georgia Cattlemen's Association and then were nominated to represent the state of Georgia at the 2006 BIF competition.
Powder Creek Simmentals has long followed BIF Guidelines for performance testing their Simmental Cattle.
We are also proud to have been chosen as the Purebred Breeders of the Year in Georgia by the Georgia Cattlemen's Association at their convention held in February 2006, in Athens, GA. (Pictured from left to right - daughter-Nicole, son-Ryan, Gail, son-Jimmy & Rodney Hilley)
